 Today I learned about Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

> Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel is the immediate and true reincarnation of 4th Gyelwang Drukpa Kuenkhen Pema Karpo. Many prophecies are made by Guru Rinpoche that the boy name Ngawang Namgyel will be born and his legacy will be heard all over the world.

Zhabdrung was born in the wood horse year, CE 1594, at Gardrong of  Druk Jangchubling when his father was 28. It was in 1616 that Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel embarked on his historic journey from Tibet to Bhutan. Bhutan commemorates the 400th year of Zhabdrung's arrival in Bhutan this year. Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel founded Bhutan and ruled the country for over 35 years. Zhabdrung offered his first wife to Tsewang Tenzin, a woman named Damcho Tenzin (dam chos bstan 'dzin), a descendant of Pajo's son Nyima from Changgankha (lcang sgang kha).
